In WP3, we will apply state-of the art methodology (metagenome sequencing, phylogenetic microarrays and real-time PCR) for analysis of the human and animal intestinal microbial communities. The combination of these three methods, which differ from each other with respect to cost, speed, and level of details in the obtained information, allows rapid screening of a large number of samples as well as focused and detailed characterization of selected subsets of samples. Additionally, new hypotheses generated from metagenomic and array data can be verified by flexible qPCR arrays. This approach represents the absolute state-of the-art methodology for analysis of the intestinal microbiome.

WP3 (microbiota) is led by Professor Tine Rask Licht, DTU Food.
